Chiropractic: The Natural Approach to Back Pain

Nashville chiropractic back pain treatmentChiropractic is based on the approach of helping your body to naturally heal through spinal adjustments and lifestyle changes that encourage wellness. For Sweeney Chiropractic, this means working to restore your body's normal functioning to prevent the need for medications or surgery. We notice that most of our Nashville patients are pleased to find a natural approach for their health conditions.

One benefit of chiropractic care is that it helps people minimize or even eliminate the use of drug treatments. Prescription medications are oftentimes issued to individuals who have back pain. This is such a serious crisis that the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) issued a news release stating that opioid (painkiller) risks outweigh the advantages when prescribed for back pain.

Some of the most common narcotics, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, include hydrocodone (Vicodin), oxycodone (OxyContin and Percocet), morphine, and codeine. Numbers offered by the AAN mention the fact that roughly 50% of the people taking these drugs for a period of three months are still dependent on them five years down the road. This can further complicate the issue of back pain and healing, especially if an opiate dependency arises.

Compare that to chiropractic which incorporates natural healing and the advantages are evident. While a pill might be useful at temporarily relieving the symptoms of a health issue, it's not a long-term solution to the problem. A drug won't fix your injured spine; it will only conceal the pain.

Sweeney Chiropractic will first examine you to get to the origin of your back problems and then work with you to address the spinal interference -- without the need for risky medications.

If you're ready for relief of your pain, naturally, give our Nashville office a call at (615) 331-7040 to make an appointment with Sweeney Chiropractic.
